In relation to 'Network+' , the earlier N10-003 has now been replaced by the 'N10-004', the 2009 edition. A larger importance is focused on Security in the 2009 N+ examination, alongside network-design & wireless networking. This obviously is in addition to the core elements of network management & infrastructure.

Students often end up having issues because of a single training area which is often not even considered: How the training is broken down and physically delivered to you. By and large, you will join a program taking 1-3 years and receive one element at a time until graduation. This may seem sensible until you think about these factors: Sometimes the steps or stages prescribed by the provider doesn't suit you. You may find it a stretch to finalise every element within the time limits imposed?

For the perfect solution, you'd get ALL the training materials right at the beginning - enabling you to have them all for the future to come back to - at any time you choose. You can also vary the order in which you complete each objective if another more intuitive route presents itself.

Many training companies will provide a useful Job Placement Assistance program, to help you get your first job. At the end of the day it's not as difficult as you may be led to believe to land your first job - as long as you've got the necessary skills and qualifications; employers in this country need your skills.

Having said that, it's important to have advice and support about your CV and interviews though; and we'd recommend everyone to get their CV updated as soon as they start a course - don't put it off for when you're ready to start work. Getting onto the 'maybe' pile of CV's is better than being rejected. Often junior jobs are offered to trainees in the early stages of their course. Generally, you'll receive better performance from a specialist independent regional employment service than you'll get from a training company's recruitment division, as they'll know the local area and commercial needs better.

A good number of students, it would appear, invest a great deal of time on their training course (sometimes for years), only to do nothing special when attempting to secure their first job. Promote yourself... Work hard to get yourself known. Don't expect a job to just fall into your lap.
